We print in Southern Illinois. You are in Chicago. That is one state, two UPS days, and no time zone to do math across — and it changes what you can say yes to. An order placed before 10 AM CST prints the same day and ships that afternoon.

Which gives you a simple rule for this city: if it is for the weekend, order by Wednesday morning. Miss that and you are pressing Monday for an event that already happened.

A compressed outdoor season

The neighborhood festival calendar runs roughly May through September and then stops. Street fests, block parties, beach and park events, the summer music schedule in Grant Park — four months carrying most of the year's event apparel.

Convention and corporate volume

McCormick Place is the largest convention center in North America, and the trade show calendar generates steady demand for staff shirts, giveaway apparel, and booth merch — frequently with a lead time measured in days, not weeks. Same-day production and two-day transit is often the difference between quoting that job and passing on it.

Five pro teams and a lot of colleges

Baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and soccer seasons overlap enough that fan and bar apparel never fully goes quiet. Add DePaul, Loyola, UIC, Northwestern, and the community college system, and there is a steady base of team, club, and Greek-life work underneath the seasonal spikes.

Marathon and race season

The fall race calendar puts a spike on technical and performance apparel, much of it polyester. Worth knowing that polyester wants a lower press temperature — see the settings below.

Why in-state beats a coastal supplier

Most of the large DTF operations sit on the coasts. From California or Florida, ground transit into Chicago is typically four to five business days — so a Monday order lands the following Monday, and a rush job is an air freight bill.

From Southern Illinois it is two days, on the ground, at ground rates. And because we are both on Central time, our 10 AM cutoff is 10 AM to you — not 8 AM because someone is two zones behind, and not a 3 PM cutoff that already passed by the time you called.

That is the whole argument. Not that our film is different, but that the distance is shorter and the clock is the same.

Chicago winters and heavyweight fleece

Half the year here, the garment is a hoodie, a crewneck, or a heavyweight fleece rather than a tee — and thick, lofty fabric is where transfers most often go wrong.

Two adjustments matter. Pre-press for a full 6 seconds to flatten the pile and drive out moisture, which matters far more on fleece than on a smooth tee. And use heavy pressure — if you are not on a pneumatic press, lean on it. A transfer that looks fine on a tee at the same settings can lift at the edges on a hoodie because the adhesive never fully reached the fabric under the loft.

Press settings

• 303°F for cotton and blends — drop to 280°F for 100% polyester
• Pre-press 6 seconds, lint-roll first
• Press 6 seconds with heavy pressure
• Peel warm, not hot, then press again 6 seconds under a cover sheet
• Wash after 24 hours

Chicago DTF FAQ

Is all of the Chicago area 2-day transit?

Yes. City neighborhoods and collar-county suburbs are in the same 2-business-day UPS transit zone. Naperville does not wait longer than Lincoln Park.

Is this 2-day shipping or 2-day transit?

This refers to 2-day UPS transit time once shipped. Production happens first — same day if your order is in before 10 AM CST, next day if it is not.

What is the real deadline for a Saturday event?

Wednesday morning, before 10 AM CST. That prints Wednesday, ships Wednesday, and lands Friday, which leaves you a day to press. Thursday orders land Monday.

What files should I upload?

PNG with a transparent background, or a print-ready PDF, at 300 DPI, scaled to the actual finished print size. Artwork pulled off a website at 72 DPI will print soft no matter how good the file looks on screen.

Can I mix garment types on one sheet?

Yes, and for a mixed Chicago order you usually should — cotton tees, poly performance shirts, and fleece hoodies can all come off the same gang sheet. The transfer does not care what it is going onto; only your press temperature does.
